Trip Start

Our adventure begins in the evening with a welcome dinner on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Hotel El Reloj in Coyhaique, Chile.

Arrival Airport

The closest airport is Balmaceda Airport (BBA), a 50-minute drive from Coyhaique. There are daily direct flights to BBA airport from Santiago de Chile (2hrs 20min) and Punta Arenas (2hrs 30min). We recommend arriving at BBA airport no later than 4pm in order not to miss our welcome dinner.

From the Santiago and Punt Arenas airports, there are direct flights from major US cities including Los Angeles (10hrs 45min), Dallas-Fort Worth (9hrs 25min), Houston (9hrs 15min), Atlanta (9hrs 25min) and New York JFK (10hrs 25min).

Consider arriving in Santiago or Punta Arenas one full day prior to the start of our trip in case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For information on where to stay the night before, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Transfer from Airport

As guests arrive at BBA airport throughout the day on Sunday, we will schedule complimentary small-group transfers to Coyhaique. We recommend arriving prior to 4pm in order not to miss our welcome dinner. Unfortunately, we're unable to delay the beginning of activities and experiences if you're late in your arrival.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

If you plan to arrive in Coyhaique prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at El Reloj hotel, which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book, and let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure.

If you plan to overnight in Santiago, we recommend Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo or the Lastarria Boutique Hotel. In Punta Arenas try Hotel Ilaia or Hotel Dreams del Estrecho.

Trip End

Our trip ends—after 11 adventure-packed days—in Chile Chico on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

Departure Airport

The closest airport is Balmaceda Airport (BBA), the same airport you arrived at.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast we will transfer back to Coyhaique (4.5hrs), arriving in the afternoon. If you’re departing from Coyhaique this day, your flight from BBA airport should be scheduled to depart at 6pm or later. If your flight leaves at an earlier time, we cannot ensure you will make it to BBA airport on time.

If you plan on departing Coyhaique at a later date, it is your responsibility to arrange transportation from your hotel to BBA airport.
